The 31st of July 2008 witnessed the grand opening of the new "Sulphonation 2" plant at PCC Rokita. Owing to this PLN 90m investment, the company will quadruple its production capacity of surfactants used in cleaning agents, cosmetics and other products.
PCC Rokita SA in Brzeg Dolny saw the completion of the mechanical and process start-up of a new anionic surfactants plant under the name of "Sulphonation 2". The General Contractor, Warsaw-based Polimex Mostostal S.A., required 16 months to complete the investment project. The General Designer was the Prozap Puławy design office, while the technology was provided by the Italian company, Ballestra, whose representatives supervised the overall works completion in Brzeg Dolny.
PCC Rokita SA is the largest Polish producer of surfactants, key components of household cleaning and washing agents, personal hygiene products and cosmetics. Surfactants are also broadly used in industrial formulations applied in the textile, construction, agrochemical, metal processing and many other sectors. They are used also as additives to polymers (emulsion polymerization and wax emulsions). Due to this investment, which shall enable the company to quadruple its anionic surfactants production capacity, PCC Rokita SA will become one of the strategic producers of raw materials for the detergent and cosmetic industries.
A Member of the Polish Parliament, Mr. Aleksander Marek Skorupa, Deputy Chief Executive of the Lower Silesian Province, Mr Piotr Borys, representatives of the local government, contractors, mass-media, universities and clients from the chemical sector honoured the inauguration of the new plant with their presence.
"We see this inauguration of the new plant as an opportunity conducive to stimulating the region’s’ development", emphasized Jarosław Mazur, President of the Board of PCC Rokita, and added "We have every confidence that it will bring tangible benefits to the company by reinforcing its market position, to the local community by offering new jobs and to our customers, who will receive a world class product, of the highest quality".
